We are looking for a self-sufficient and reliable Service Engineer to join our Lifting Automation team in the Northampton area. You will work both independently and as part of a team, using your initiative to solve mechanical issues on site and ensure our lifting solutions operate safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
Installation & service
You will:
- Work closely with other engineers to complete the installation and commissioning of lifting equipment at customer sites.
- Perform regular servicing, inspections, annual testing and certification of lifting equipment in line with relevant standards and internal procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and basic electrical faults on installed equipment.
Practical work & tools
You will:
- Use a range of hand and power tools to carry out installation, service and repair tasks.
- Receive on-the-job training in our products, tools and methods; previous hands-on experience is desirable but not essential.
Customer interaction & working environment
You will:
- Work in a variety of factory environments (e.g. logistics, automotive, pharmaceutical and general manufacturing).
- Represent the company professionally on customer sites – being polite, presentable and customer-focused at all times.
- Communicate clearly with customers about work performed, findings and any recommended follow-up actions.
- Complete all required service reports and documentation accurately and on time.
What we are looking for
- Proven work experience as a field or service engineer.
- Self-motivated, reliable and able to use your own initiative.
- Strong problem-solving skills, particularly with mechanical issues.
- Ability to work well as part of a team as well as independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong customer-service mindset.
- Fluent English, both oral and written.
- 3–5 years’ on-site / on-the-road engineering experience – preferred but not essential.
- Electrical qualification – preferred but not essential.
- LEEA accreditation – preferred but not essential.
- Familiarity with the lifting equipment or material handling industry is an advantage.
- Willingness and ability to perform physically demanding work, including working at height and in varied factory environments.
- Full UK driving licence.
