Primary Objective
MSP Limited is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer – Electrical[HY1] to support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced multi-source power systems across client sites. This role involves hands-on work with electrical components, control systems, and hybrid energy solutions, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
· Install, commission, and maintain electrical systems for multi-source power units (including solar, battery, diesel, and grid integration).
· Diagnose and repair faults in electrical control systems, switchgear, and power distribution units.
· Perform routine and emergency service visits to client sites, ensuring minimal downtime.
· Conduct system performance testing and provide detailed technical reports.
· Collaborate with engineering and project teams to support system upgrades and retrofits.
· Train clients and site personnel on system operation and basic troubleshooting.
· Ensure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies.
· Maintain accurate service records and documentation.[HY2]

To be effective in this role the Field Service Engineer will need to:
Internal Stakeholders
- Senior Field Service Engineer – For alignment on process
- Software Engineers – Work together on system-level software, PC-based tools, and embedded Linux components.[HY3]
- Control Systems Engineers – Coordinate on implementing control algorithms (e.g., PID) and integrating them into embedded systems.
- Test Engineers – Partner to develop and execute test plans, especially for high-power systems and HIL simulations.
- Project Managers – Provide technical updates, contribute to planning, and ensure alignment with project timelines.

To be successful in this role the Field Service Engineerwill be:
· Comfortable working away up to a week at a time
· Expected 180 days per year on site[HY5]
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.

· Safety-conscious with high attention to detail.
· Flexible and adaptable to changing environments and schedules
· Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.
· DBS check to be completed prior to start date.
· A legal right to work in the UK.
Education, Qualification and Certification
Essential Qualifications & Experience
One or more of the following:
- Electrical inspection and testing certification (e.g., 18th Edition, C&G 2391)
- Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Formal training and qualification as an electricial
- Minimum 3 years of experience in field service or electrical systems maintenance.
- Strong understanding of hybrid[HY7] power systems, inverters, and energy storage technologies.
- Competent with knowledge on electrical characteristics:
- AC / DC Networks
- Power Factor
- kVA / kW
- Harmonics
- Proficient in reading electrical schematics and using diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, and remote monitoring platforms is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA, or remote monitoring systems.
- Familiarity with renewable energy systems and grid-tied configurations.
- Formal training or experience on PCS/Inverter systems, VFD
