Maintenance Manager

Lead Engineering Performance & Reliability
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the site's maintenance strategy, engineering standards, and asset reliability programmes. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all site equipment while driving continuous improvement, engineering excellence, and team development within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
The Role
As Maintenance Manager, you will oversee all maintenance operations, ensuring preventative maintenance programmes, condition monitoring activities, and engineering standards deliver maximum equipment uptime and operational performance. You will lead engineering teams, manage contractors and service providers, and champion a proactive maintenance culture focused on continuous improvement and reliability.
Key Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day maintenance and engineering activities to maximise site asset reliability and performance.

Track and report engineering KPIs using Fresh Report.

Drive continuous improvement of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes and maintenance processes.

Implement and optimise PPM kitting systems to improve efficiency and consistency.

Develop and maintain engineering SOPs and ensure effective training across the department.

Work closely with the Training Department to ensure mandatory compliance training is completed.

Lead condition monitoring initiatives to reduce equipment failures and unplanned downtime.

Act as a Q-Perm Duty Holder, ensuring full compliance with safe working practices and permit systems.

Manage service contracts and external contractors, ensuring value for money and high-quality workmanship.

Oversee asset management systems, ensuring all equipment is effectively maintained and tracked.

Ensure engineering activities comply with site standards, food safety requirements, and legal obligations.

Drive engineering standards, continuous improvement projects, and best practice maintenance methodologies.

Manage engineering budgets, maintenance costs, and resource planning.

Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team to deliver high performance and engagement.
Qualifications:
HNC/HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or Maintenance Engineering
Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance
Level 4/5 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Leadership or Management
ILM Level 4 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Leadership & Management
IOSH Managing Safely
HACCP Level 3 or Level 4
Food Safety Level 3 or Level 4
