We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Animation to join our outstanding team of educators, practitioners and researchers.
The Farnham School of Creative and Cultural Industries is a vibrant community of students, academic teaching staff, researchers and industry specialists, working together to create innovative animation, film and creative technologies practice and research. Central to the School's ethos is the combination of high-quality teaching, leading research and vibrant knowledge exchange with industry partners. The School has a long-established international reputation for excellence in animation, producing graduates who have gone on to successful careers across film, television, games, independent practice and the wider creative industries. Alongside industry-standard studios and digital production facilities, students benefit from specialist workshops and a vibrant interdisciplinary creative environment. The role will be based at the Farnham campus, just outside Guildford, and will report directly to the Programme Director for Animation.
UCA is seeking to recruit a dynamic, organised and innovative educator with expertise in animation and a passion for supporting student success. We are looking for a candidate who will ideally have professional experience within animation together with experience of teaching in higher education, including academic coordination and curriculum delivery aligned with contemporary creative practice.
As Lecturer in Animation, you will combine teaching with responsibility for the academic coordination of Level 5. You will play a key role in ensuring an excellent student experience by working closely with the Programme Director, module leaders, technical staff and professional services colleagues to coordinate teaching, support student progression and maintain clear communication across the course.
You will have broad knowledge of contemporary animation practice and production methodologies, together with experience of supporting students through project development, research and creative production. You will contribute to teaching across undergraduate modules, supporting students as they develop increasingly ambitious animated projects, research-informed creative practice, collaborative working and professional development in preparation for their final year of study. Knowledge of contemporary digital and analogue animation techniques, together with experience of interdisciplinary creative practice, would be advantageous.

You will encourage students to experiment, develop independent creative voices and build the confidence and resilience required to thrive across artistic, commercial and interdisciplinary contexts.
You will have a good honours degree, ideally supported by a postgraduate qualification, together with significant professional experience and an up-to-date understanding of contemporary developments in animation and the wider creative industries. Experience of academic organisation, module administration or year leadership within Higher Education would be highly desirable.

Teaching responsibilities will include all associated course administration, assessment and student support, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute proactively to curriculum enhancement and innovative approaches to learning and teaching. You will also participate in marketing and student recruitment activities, contribute to quality assurance and course enhancement, and have the opportunity to engage in professional practice, research and knowledge exchange.
