Job Summary
Whitecraigs Rugby Club is looking for a Supervisor to lead our enthusiastic bar team. The Bar Supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of the Club Bars and associated activities. The position will report to the Chairman of Whitecraigs Rugby Cub Ltd and will work with the Club Secretary and the Bar Convenors.
The Bar Supervisor must hold a Personal Licence.
The Bar Supervisor will be expected to work at least 20 hours each week with the main working hours being Fridays, Saturday and Sundays. Where possible the bar supervisor may work from home when undertaking bar admin tasks.
Main Duties
Bar Supervision
- Supervise all aspects of bar operation and maintain a clean and organised bar serving area.
- Ensure sufficient stock is available at all times, that stock is in date and correctly rotated. Order draught beer, wines, spirits, bottled beverages, soft drinks, crisps and snacks. Purchase and uplift goods from Cash and Carry when required. Receive and log stock deliveries. Regularly review the product range to ensure it meets the needs of club members.
- Plan and implement an auditable stock control system using the EPOS Club Control system and maintain appropriate records relating to wastage, consumption, ordering and returns.
- Ensure that cash received is reconciled with till-roll totals on a daily basis. Ensure cash is properly banked in accordance with club protocol.
- Maintain the condition of draught beer and ensure that contractors carry out necessary regular pipe cleaning.
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, cleaning and restocking of the coffee machine in the bar.
- Help support the development of a hospitality Strategy for Whitecraigs Rugby Club based on profitable bar operation and on supporting the optimum use of the club’s facilities to generate income.
- Help to develop and maintain policies and standard operating procedures that encourage high standards of customer service and continuous improvement.
Finance
- Help maintain the pricing model that generates the target GPP and NPP.
- Assist in analysing records of income and expenditure and compare against forecasts to maintain profitability and growth.
- Submit all receipts and match invoices against all deliveries for approval for payment.
- Adhere to budgets, work to increase profitability, and manage cashflow.
People
- Help to recruit and train bar staff in all operational aspects.
- Organise the rostering and performance of all bar staff ensuring that all legal obligations regarding their employment are met by the Company.
- Ensure hours worked are recorded correctly and are reported to our wages administrator for payment.
Health and Safety and Environment
- Maintain a compliant bar environment that meets all health and safety requirements.
- Ensure that all front and back of house areas are kept clean and free of litter, empty glasses and bottles.
- Ensure that bar waste is disposed of daily in the correct manner and that we adopt environmentally friendly processes where possible.
General Club Matters
- Help to maintain the security of the premises, staff and stock by following appropriate security procedures.
- Liaise with the club functions administrator to maintain a diary of event bookings to ensure that sufficient staff are on duty and that our function room is set up. .
- Liaise with caterers during functions and ensure kitchen availability.
- Ensure availability over Beer Festival and also through Christmas and New Year holiday period to support club functions.
- Respond promptly to matters raised by members or their guests. Ensure that all issues are dealt with and that they are recorded for review by the committee.
- Oversee all bar cleaning and hygiene matters.
- Assist the Club Secretary to provide appropriate access for contractors and tradesmen for deliveries, cleaning, repairs and maintenance of the buildings and grounds as required.
Pay: £13.80 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 – 25.0 per week
