Job Overview
Following on from the success of the Afterschool Club, we are expanding our offering to include a Breakfast Club for primary school aged children attending Thornhill Primary School. As part of this expansion, we are recruiting for a Play Assistant to work three days a week at the club.
As a Play Assistant, you’ll help deliver a variety of creative, active, and inclusive activities for primary school children aged 4 to 11. From arts and crafts to games to the provision of a healthy breakfast, you’ll support children’s play and development while ensuring their wellbeing and safety.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children in a range of play-based activities
- Help set up and tidy away equipment and resources
- Assist with preparing and serving snacks, accommodating dietary needs
- Support positive behaviour and encourage social interaction
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment at all times
- Work collaboratively with the club leader and other staff
Skills
- Experience working with children
- A warm, enthusiastic, and patient personality
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting child welfare
- A relevant childcare qualification is desirable but not essential
Working hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7am to 9:30am. The club will run from 7:30 to 9:00am and the role will include walking the children to Thornhill Primary School in time for the start of the school day.
Successful applicants will be subject to a reference check and an enhanced DBS check

Pay: £13.00-£13.50 per hour
