About Us
Fortix is a supported housing organisation empowering vulnerable adults who have experienced homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges. We deliver trauma-informed, person-centred support that promotes independence and recovery while maintaining safe, high-quality housing environments.
We are now seeking a dedicated and experienced Supervisor to support the operational delivery of our services and lead frontline staff. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with leadership experience in the care or supported housing sector who wants to help shape the quality and consistency of our support.

Purpose of the Role
The Night Supervisor will provide operational leadership across all night services, ensuring that welfare checks are completed, incidents are managed appropriately, staff remain supported and accountable, and all information is accurately recorded and handed over to daytime management teams.
The post holder will act as the senior decision-maker during night shifts and will be responsible for coordinating responses to emergencies, safeguarding concerns, resident crises and service disruptions.
Please note - Staff are required to work at least one weekend every month.
Key Responsibilities
Night Service Leadership
- Manage and oversee approximately 10 Night Support Workers operating across multiple sites.
- Act as the designated senior manager on duty during night shifts.
- Ensure all services operate safely and in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance, support and direction to night staff throughout the shift.
- Conduct regular spot checks and quality assurance reviews of staff performance.
Welfare Check Oversight
- Ensure all scheduled resident welfare checks are completed in accordance with individual support plans and risk assessments.
- Require staff to contact the Night Supervisor following each welfare check to confirm completion and report any concerns.
- Monitor staff movements and whereabouts throughout the shift.
- Ensure staff are actively undertaking welfare checks and not remaining stationary unless authorised.
- Escalate concerns regarding missed welfare checks immediately.
Incident and Crisis Management
- Lead the management of all incidents occurring during night hours.
- Respond to safeguarding concerns, medical emergencies, missing person incidents, substance misuse incidents and behavioural crises.
- Coordinate emergency responses with police, ambulance services, mental health teams and other professionals where required.
- Ensure all incidents are documented accurately and reported appropriately.
- Take responsibility for decision-making during emergencies and high-risk situations.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Act as the Night Safeguarding Lead.
- Ensure safeguarding concerns are identified, recorded and escalated in accordance with policy.
- Make immediate referrals where required.
- Ensure all staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities.
- Review safeguarding incidents and provide recommendations for follow-up actions.
Staff Supervision and Development
- Provide formal supervision to all night staff.
- Conduct probation reviews and performance management meetings.
- Identify training needs and support staff development.
- Address performance concerns promptly and escalate where necessary.
- Promote a positive, professional and accountable night team culture.
Quality Assurance and Record Keeping
- Read and review all resident logs, incident reports and communication records at the start of each shift.
- Ensure all staff records are completed accurately and to a high standard.
- Monitor trends relating to resident wellbeing, behaviour and risks.
- Identify deterioration in resident presentation or emerging concerns requiring daytime intervention.
Shift Meetings and Communication
- Organise and facilitate regular night team meetings.
- Conduct end-of-shift debriefs with all night staff.
- Gather reports from each site and collate key information.
- Produce comprehensive handover reports for daytime managers.
- Ensure day staff are fully informed of incidents, safeguarding concerns, resident deterioration, welfare concerns, property issues, staffing matters and health and safety concerns.
Operational Responsibilities
- Monitor staffing levels and arrange emergency cover where required.
- Ensure lone working procedures are followed.
- Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to.
- Support investigations into incidents where required.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement.
Essential Skills and Experience
● Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within supported housing, homelessness, mental health, social care or a related sector.
● Experience managing staff working across multiple sites.
● Strong understanding of safeguarding, risk management and incident response.
● Experience supporting individuals with complex needs.
● Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
● Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
● Competent IT skills and experience using electronic recording systems.
● Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable Criteria
- Level 3 or above qualification in Health and Social Care, Leadership and Management or equivalent.
- Safeguarding qualification.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
- Experience of managing dispersed housing services.
