The Rising Sun in Lynmouth is seeking an experienced and energetic General Manager to lead our team, drive exceptional guest experiences, and continue building our reputation for outstanding hospitality, food, drink, and service.

The Rising Sun is a busy and well-loved destination pub and hotel located in the heart of Lynmouth, welcoming locals, walkers, tourists, and returning guests throughout the year. We pride ourselves on warm service, quality food and drink, and creating memorable experiences in a relaxed coastal setting.
The Role
As General Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the business, leading from the front and ensuring excellence across all areas of the venue.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, motivating, and developing the team
- Delivering exceptional customer service standards
- Managing all aspects of food, beverage, and accommodation operations
- Driving sales and profitability
- Controlling labour, stock, and operating costs
- Recruiting, training, and retaining staff
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and compliance
- Building strong relationships within the local community
- Creating a positive and professional working cultureAbout You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a General Manager or senior hospitality leader
- Is hands-on, proactive, and highly organised
- Has strong financial and commercial awareness
- Leads by example with energy and positivity
- Thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment
- Is passionate about food, drink, and guest experience
- Has excellent communication and team leadership skills
- Understands the importance of consistency and attention to detail
