This is an exciting time to join the Saint Catherine’s Hospice Retail Department as we grow, evolve and transform the way we generate income to support our vital hospice services. At Saint Catherine’s Hospice we are entering an exciting new period of growth and development. Our retail shops are at the heart of this journey, raising vital funds that enable us to provide compassionate care and support to local people and their families. We are developing our shops, introducing new ways of working and looking for new opportunities to increase income and engage with our customers, donors and communities. We are now looking for enthusiastic and motivated Sales Assistants to join our teams in Malton and Pickering.
This is a great opportunity to become part of a growing retail department and play a direct role in helping Saint Catherine’s Hospice raise more income to support the future of our services.
About the Role
As a Sales Assistant, you will help support the successful day-to-day running of the shop, working alongside the Duty Manager and volunteers to deliver excellent customer service, maximise sales and provide a welcoming experience for customers and donors.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service & Sales – Deliver excellent customer service, operate the till, promote Gift Aid and Round Up donations, and help achieve sales and income targets.
- Shop Presentation – Price and display stock to a high standard, maintain attractive and commercial displays, and support stock rotation and replenishment.
- Volunteers & Teamwork – Work positively with volunteers, providing support and encouragement to help create a friendly and welcoming shop.
- Shop Operations – Assist with donations, deliveries, stock preparation and general shop duties while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and security.
- Growth & Development – Support new initiatives, share ideas and help identify opportunities to increase sales, income and customer engagement.
About You
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and customer-focused, with a positive attitude and a willingness to get involved.
You will:
- Have excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Be organised, proactive and able to use your initiative.
- Enjoy working with customers, colleagues and volunteers.
- Be commercially aware and motivated to help increase sales and income.
- Be adaptable and willing to support new ideas and ways of working.
- Have an interest in charity retail and making a difference in the local community.
- Be available to work 4 hours on a Sunday between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
Previous retail experience is desirable but not essential – we are looking for the right attitude, enthusiasm and commitment to our cause.
