Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in food preparation, cleaning, and assisting with basic cooking tasks. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience within the hospitality industry and develop culinary skills.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation and basic cooking tasks under supervision
- Ensure all kitchen areas are kept clean and hygienic, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Support the organisation of ingredients and supplies to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Help with serving food to customers or guests as required
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas throughout shifts
- Assist with waste disposal and recycling procedures in accordance with health and safety standards
- Support the team during busy service times to ensure prompt customer service and efficient workflow
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is desirable but not mandatory
- Familiarity with food preparation or kitchen operations is advantageous
- Experience in serving or customer service roles within hospitality settings is beneficial
- A genuine interest in culinary arts and hospitality industry practices is preferred
- Willingness to learn new skills and work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
The job is very fast paced as we are extremely busy, you will be required to work weekends and roughly between 20 and 35 hours per week depending on the season. You will also receive an equal share of very generous tips which are currently £4 plus an hour on top of your hourly rate.
