We are looking for an ambitious Land Manager to join our Manor Oak business in the midlands and play a key role in identifying, securing and progressing strategic land opportunities that support our long-term growth plans. Based within our Land & Development team, you'll work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver a pipeline of high-quality residential and mixed-use development opportunities
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Land Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and securing land opportunities across the midland's region, helping to drive the delivery of sites. You'll build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, agents, consultants and local authorities while supporting the development of land strategies that align with business objectives.
Working alongside planning, technical, commercial and legal teams, you'll lead land appraisals, negotiate contracts, manage consultant teams and present investment recommendations to senior management and governance boards.
As a Land Manager you will:
- Identifying and securing residential and mixed-use development opportunities.
- Undertaking land, planning, technical and commercial appraisals.
- Negotiating land transactions including option, promotion, hybrid and freehold agreements.
- Building and maintaining relationships with landowners, agents and industry contacts.
- Managing consultants throughout the land acquisition process.
- Preparing and presenting investment proposals and recommendations.
- Supporting planning promotion strategies and responding to planning policy changes.
- Representing Wates at industry events, networking opportunities and meetings.
What we are looking for
You'll bring experience within land acquisition, land promotion, development or a related property environment, along with a strong understanding of the residential development market. We're particularly interested in candidates who have:
- Experience identifying and progressing land opportunities, particularly in the Midlands.
- Strong commercial negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of land valuation, planning and development processes.
- Understanding of development appraisals and financial modelling.
- Experience working with land systems such as Pro-map or Land Insight.
- The ability to influence and present confidently to a wide range of stakeholders.
