Children's Support Worker
Ofsted Residential Services | Full-Time | Permanent
Location: Burton-on-Trent, DE13
Salary: £29,500 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience
Do Work That Young People Remember
What if the support you give today becomes part of the reason a young person believes in themselves tomorrow?
We're looking for Children's Residential Support Workers to join our growing team in Burton-on-Trent.
You'll be supporting children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs within a therapeutic residential environment, helping them feel safe, build confidence, develop resilience and work towards brighter futures.
We currently have two Ofsted-rated "Good" children's homes, with a third opening soon. As we grow, so do the opportunities for the people who grow with us.
We're committed to developing our teams from within. Whether you're already experienced in residential childcare or bringing transferable experience and the right values, we'll provide the training, guidance and support to help you build a career you're proud of.
Why Join Us?
We believe the best care comes from people who feel supported themselves.
When you join us, you'll benefit from:
- £29,500 - £32,000 salary, depending on experience
- Comprehensive therapeutic, trauma-informed and PACE-based training
- Ongoing supervision, mentoring and professional development
- Genuine career progression within a growing organisation
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Free meals during shifts
- On-site parking
- Casual dress policy
- Retail and gym discount schemes
- Loyalty bonus programme
- Regular staff events and team-building opportunities
- A supportive, welcoming and collaborative team culture
The Role
As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you'll become one of the trusted adults in a young person's life.
That means being consistent when things feel uncertain, listening when they need to be heard and celebrating progress, including the small wins that can mean a lot.
Working within a therapeutic environment, you'll use trauma-informed approaches and PACE principles to help young people feel safe, understood and valued.
You'll help them develop positive routines, independence, confidence and resilience while providing the stability and encouragement they need to move forward.
No two days will be the same. But every day gives you another opportunity to make a difference.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be responsible for:
- Providing high-quality care and support within a therapeutic residential environment
- Supporting emotional wellbeing using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches, including PACE principles
- Encouraging positive routines while developing independence, confidence and resilience
- Building trusting, meaningful relationships with children and young people
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and external professionals
- Contributing to care plans, risk assessments and individual support plans
- Maintaining accurate daily records and documentation in line with Ofsted requirements
- Promoting safeguarding and helping maintain a safe, structured and nurturing home
About You
We're looking for people who are caring, resilient, patient and genuinely committed to helping young people thrive.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience working within children's residential care
- An understanding of therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches to supporting children and young people
- A caring, patient and child-centred approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to work a rolling rota, including evenings, weekends and sleep-in shifts where required
- A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people
Experience is valuable, but the right attitude matters just as much.
If you bring the values, resilience and commitment we're looking for, we'll help you develop the skills and knowledge to succeed.
This Is More Than a Support Role
Young people don't always remember every policy, procedure or form.
They remember how you made them feel.
They remember the adult who listened. The person who encouraged them when they wanted to give up. The person who celebrated their progress and showed them that someone believed in them.
As a Children's Residential Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to become that person.
Your consistency today can help shape someone's confidence for tomorrow.
Ready to Build a Career That Matters?
If you're looking for more than a job, if you want a career where your work has genuine purpose, where you can develop professionally and where every day brings an opportunity to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
Join our growing Burton-on-Trent team and help create brighter futures for children and young people.
All applications are welcome, and we aim to contact candidates within 48 hours of receiving their application.
