About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you will work closely alongside the Nursery Manager to support the smooth day-to-day running of the nursery while remaining actively involved within the nursery rooms.
This is a predominantly room-based leadership role, giving you the opportunity to lead by example, support high-quality practice, and build meaningful relationships with children, families, and colleagues. Alongside your room-based responsibilities, you will be allocated dedicated office time to undertake management duties, including administration, compliance, staff supervision, and contributing to the overall success of the setting.
You will play a key role in maintaining outstanding standards of care, learning, safeguarding, and professionalism throughout the nursery.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supporting the Nursery Manager with the day-to-day operation of the nursery
- Leading and motivating the team to deliver exceptional childcare and education
- Ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for all children
- Supporting planning, observations, assessments, and learning outcomes in line with the EYFS
- Acting as a role model for best practice and professional standards
- Building positive partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals
- Supporting staff development through coaching, mentoring, and supervision
- Taking responsibility for the nursery in the Manager's absence when required
- Supporting compliance, safeguarding, and quality improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above)
- Strong experience within an Early Years setting
- Previous leadership, senior practitioner, room leader, or deputy management experience
- Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A positive, proactive, and supportive leadership style
- Passion for delivering high-quality childcare and education
