Hours: 17 Hours per week
Shifts: Saturdays 09:30 - 18:30 and Sundays 09:00 - 17:00
Location: Grosvenor Shopping Centre, Northampton
About the Role
We are looking for a Security Operative to join our team and help maintain a safe, welcoming, and secure environment across the Grosvenor Shopping Centre in Northampton. Your work will play an essential role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and positive experience of thousands of daily visitors.
As the first point of contact for staff, contractors, visitors, and members of the public, you will represent our organisation with professionalism, courtesy, and a strong customer‑focused approach.

What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- SIA Door Supervisor Licence
- CCTV Licence (or willingness to complete training — support provided)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional in all situations
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Basic computer literacy
- Good level of written and spoken English to meet safety and reporting requirements (Option 5: softened, inclusive phrasing)
- Willingness to undertake First Aid training if needed
Desirable:
- COSHH awareness
- Experience with cleaning, facilities support, or building operations

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the safety and security of buildings, staff, and visitors
- Control access and support visitors in a professional, welcoming manner
- Monitor CCTV and conduct regular patrols
- Respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies
- Assist with fire evacuations and first aid (training provided)
- Complete accurate incident reports and escalate issues appropriately
- Support operational tasks such as void unit checks or small furniture moves
- Maintain uniform, equipment and a safe working environment
- Follow procedures including health and safety requirements
- Undertake occasional cleaning or caretaking duties when required
