Mechanic / Vehicle Technician
Baytree Car Sales
Salary: Competitive – to be discussed based on experience
Job Type: Full-time
About the Role
Baytree Car Sales is looking for an experienced, capable and self-motivated Mechanic / Vehicle Technician to join our busy team.
We operate a fast-paced used car environment where no two days are the same. We work with a wide variety of makes and models, so we're looking for someone who enjoys variety, can think for themselves and is equally comfortable carrying out diagnostics as they are getting stuck into hands-on mechanical repairs.
This isn't a role where you'll be doing the same job day after day. One minute you could be diagnosing an electrical or mechanical fault, the next carrying out servicing, brakes, suspension or preparing a newly arrived vehicle for sale.
You'll work alongside the existing Baytree team, but you'll also need to be confident working independently, managing your own workload and seeing jobs through from diagnosis to completion.
What You'll Be Doing
Typical duties will include:
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- General servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Brakes, suspension, steering and associated mechanical work
- Fault finding using diagnostic equipment
- Identifying parts and repairs required
- Preparing vehicles for sale
- Inspecting newly arrived vehicles and identifying required work
- Rectifying faults identified during preparation or MOT
- Transporting Vehicles
- Working across a wide variety of makes, models and ages of vehicle
- Working closely with the wider Baytree team to keep vehicles progressing efficiently
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- An experienced mechanic / vehicle technician
- Confident with both diagnostics and hands-on mechanical repairs
- Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision
- Practical and able to use their own initiative
- Flexible in their approach to work
- Comfortable working in a busy, fast-moving environment
- Able to prioritise jobs and adapt when requirements change
- A team player who is happy to help wherever required
- Focused on completing work to a high standard
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
- Own tools
- Good mechanical knowledge and fault-finding ability
- Previous experience working on a broad range of vehicles
- A high degree of flexibility and a positive, can-do approach
Why Baytree?
At Baytree Car Sales, you'll get something very different from a repetitive workshop role.
We deal with a constantly changing selection of vehicles, which means the work is varied and there are always different challenges to solve. We value people who can think for themselves, work as part of a team and take pride in getting a vehicle properly sorted.
If you're the type of mechanic who enjoys diagnosing a problem just as much as fixing it — and you prefer variety over doing the same jobs every day — we'd like to hear from you.
Salary will be discussed based on experience, skills and capability.
