Milling Machinist / Setter / Operator
Join Universal Fabrications, a leading Midlands-based company specialising in Precision Fabrications, Sheet Metalwork, and Machined Parts. We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Milling Setter Operator to join our team.
You will play a crucial role in setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC Milling machines. We use Heidenhain, Matsuura and HAAS controls.
Responsibilities:
- Load programs onto CNC machines and make necessary edits when required.
- Set up and operate CNC mills to manufacture high-quality components from raw materials.
- Interpret engineering shop drawings and cut files from CAD drawings.
- Adjust CNC machine parameters and perform off-set changes, tooling, and cutting tip replacements as needed.
- Conduct first-off inspections using precision measuring instruments, maintaining adherence to tight tolerances.
- Complete deburring, cleaning, and final inspections of parts to meet the required quality standards.
- Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment, promptly addressing malfunctions and breakdowns.
- Ensure good housekeeping practices and regularly maintain machine fluids and coolant levels.
- Communicate tooling and material requirements to the Manager.
- Document work orders, fill out necessary paperwork, and ensure accurate labelling and quantities of parts.
- Adhere to strict health and safety protocols, wearing the required personal protective equipment at all times.
Qualifications:
- Strong experience as a CNC Setter Operator, within the precision machining industry.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
- Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Dependability and a strong sense of responsibility in meeting commitments.
- Willingness to work overtime hours and weekends based on production requirements.
- Familiarity with health and safety procedures, ensuring a safe work environment.
