We are seeking an ambitious and technically strong Senior Accountant to join our growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified accountant who enjoys building client relationships, taking ownership of a portfolio, and developing specialist expertise within the pharmacy sector.
The Role
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of pharmacy and healthcare clients, delivering high-quality accounting and tax services while supporting junior team members and working closely with managers and partners.
You will play a key role in ensuring timely delivery of accounts, tax returns, management information, and advisory support to clients.
This is a client-facing position requiring strong technical abilities, excellent communication skills, and a proactive commercial mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Financial Reporting
Preparation and review of statutory accounts for:
o Partnerships
o Limited companies
o Pharmacy groups
Preparation of year-end accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
Review of quarterly management accounts and ensure delivery within deadlines.
Analysis of financial performance and presentation of findings to clients.
Review of bookkeeping records and supporting schedules.
Review of balance sheet reconciliations.
Assisting clients with budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management.
Supporting clients with business planning and growth initiatives.
Tax Compliance
Preparation and/or review of:
o Corporation Tax returns
o Personal Tax returns
o Partnership Tax returns
Identification of tax planning opportunities.
Advising clients on routine tax matters.
Liaising with HMRC where required.
Assisting with tax investigations and enquiries as and when required.
Maintaining awareness of changes in tax legislation and pharmacy sector developments.
Cloud Accounting & Bookkeeping Support
Reviewing client bookkeeping and accounting records.
Supporting clients with cloud accounting solutions.
Providing training and guidance to clients on best practice.
Managing digital record-keeping processes.
Identifying process improvements and efficiencies.
Client Relationship Management
Acting as a primary point of contact for assigned clients.
Building strong long-term client relationships.
Attending client meetings both virtually and in person.
Providing proactive business and financial advice.
Responding efficiently to client queries.
Identifying opportunities to provide additional services.
Team Support & Development
Reviewing work prepared by junior team members.
Assisting with training and mentoring junior staff.
Supporting managers and partners on larger assignments.
Ensuring all work is completed to firm standards and within agreed deadlines.
Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the practice.
Pharmacy Sector Advisory
Developing specialist knowledge of:
o Pharmacy business models
o NHS income streams
o Pharmacy acquisitions and disposals
o Funding arrangements
o Margin analysis
o Workforce and operational metrics
Assisting with pharmacy-specific benchmarking and performance reporting.
Key Requirements
Essential Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who are either qualified with:
Minimum 3–5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
Experience managing a portfolio of clients independently.

Essential Experience
3–5 years' experience within an accountancy practice.
Managing a portfolio of clients.
Preparing accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
Preparing Corporation Tax returns and Personal Tax returns.
Client-facing experience.
Reviewing bookkeeping records.
Working to deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
Experience using cloud accounting systems.
Desirable Experience
Experience working with pharmacy or healthcare sector clients.
Knowledge of NHS pharmacy funding structures.
Experience with pharmacy acquisitions, disposals and valuations.
Audit exposure (but not necessary).
Experience supervising junior staff.
Experience with additional cloud accounting platforms.
