Kamal Contracts Ltd is a growing construction and building services company delivering renovation, maintenance, and commercial building works across Barking, Essex, and surrounding regions. As we expand our tendering capacity and secure larger commercial projects, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Marketing and commercial managerto strengthen our commercial performance, manage client and subcontractor contracts, and support the strategic growth of the business.
The Role
Overseeing commercial operations, contract management, tender preparation, financial reporting, and market analysis. You will work closely with senior management to ensure our construction projects remain commercially viable, compliant with building regulations, and competitively positioned within the local market.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing and Commercial Management
- Review, negotiate, and manage client and subcontractor contracts to ensure commercial viability and compliance with UK construction and renovation regulations.
- Maintain accurate contractual documentation, including renewals, variations, extensions of time, and commercial amendments.
- Support directors in resolving commercial disputes, claims, and contract‑related issues.
Commercial Strategy & Business Development
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to expand the company’s service footprint across Barking, Essex, and surrounding areas.
- Establish competitive pricing frameworks aligned with regional market demand.
- Implement commercial processes and frameworks across the business to support scalable growth.
Market, Client & Tender Analysis
- Conduct structured market research to identify upcoming public and private sector construction tenders.
- Analyse competitor pricing, client expectations, and regional demand for building and renovation services.
- Maintain a tender pipeline tracker and produce monthly tender performance summaries.
- Prepare commercial proposals and tender submissions for construction and maintenance contracts.
Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Oversee project budgets, cost tracking, and commercial reporting across all active construction projects.
- Compile, analyse, and present monthly commercial data, including project margins, sales targets, and cost‑benefit forecasts.
- Conduct financial modelling for new commercial opportunities and tender submissions.
- Verify raw commercial data and interpret it using professional tools such as Excel, Power BI, CRM analytics systems, and construction reporting platforms.
Risk & Claims Administration
- Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks across all projects.
- Assess operational risks on live construction sites and ensure compliance with building regulations.
- Supervise commercial variations, extensions of time, and financial claims during active construction phases.
Client & Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Maintain professional communication with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Oversee client onboarding, contract briefings, and commercial compliance checks.
- Ensure all communication is delivered in fluent, professional English (verbal and written).
Person Specification
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (RQF Level 6) in Business Management, Business Administration, Commercial Management, or a closely related business discipline.
- A Master’s degree (RQF Level 7) is desirable but not essential.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in marketing, commercial management, or contract management, ideally within the construction or building services sector.
- Experience preparing tenders, commercial proposals, or pricing frameworks.
- Understanding of UK construction regulations, building standards, and renovation compliance.
Skills
- Strong understanding of commercial frameworks, project budgeting, and strategic market positioning.
- Solid comprehension of commercial law, contract negotiation, and financial modelling.
- Ability to interpret raw commercial and financial data using tools such as Excel, Power BI, CRM analytics systems, and construction management platforms.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple commercial projects simultaneously.
