Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead and oversee the strategic direction, operational management, and growth of the organization dedicated to promoting excellence in pipe band music and culture. The CEO will serve as the primary leader, working closely with a small team of staff, the volunteer board of directors and other members to ensure the organisation succeeds in its mission of delivering five major championships and educational activities each year. This role requires a proactive leader with strong management and negotiating skills, the ability to inspire teams toward shared goals and an enthusiasm for musical arts.
Noting the need for structural changes, the incoming CEO will work closely with the Executive Board to recommend a more effective organisation for this predominantly volunteer charity and a road map for its implementation.
Key tasks
- Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the organization’s mission to promote pipe band music and culture globally.
- Lead all organizational operations, including program development, member engagement, event planning, and community outreach initiatives.
- Oversee financial management activities such as budgeting, fundraising, sponsorship acquisition, and resource allocation to ensure fiscal health.
- Manage a diverse team of staff, volunteers, and committee members through effective supervision and leadership practices.
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders including members, partner organisations, sponsors, media outlets, and government agencies to enhance visibility and support.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, legal requirements, and industry standards while maintaining transparency in all activities.
- Drive innovation by exploring new programs, digital platforms, and outreach strategies to expand the organization’s reach and impact.
Qualifications
- Proven management experience with a track record of leading complex organisations or associations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative environment.
- Supervising experience that demonstrates effective personnel management across diverse groups.
- Solid financial management skills including budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation.
- Passion for musical arts or cultural organizations is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to represent the organisation confidently at public events and media engagements.
- Strategic thinker with problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to organisational growth.
