Due to continued growth, MAX Automotive Group Ltd is looking for an experienced Light Vehicle Technician / Vehicle Mechanic to join our expanding workshop team.
We operate a busy, modern automotive business supporting private customers, fleet operators, leasing companies and commercial customers.
We're looking for a competent technician who takes pride in their work, can diagnose faults properly and wants to be part of a professional workshop with opportunities to develop as the business continues to grow.
The Role
You'll be working predominantly on cars, vans and light commercial vehicles, carrying out:
- Routine servicing and scheduled maintenance
- Mechanical repairs
- Advanced diagnostics and fault finding
- Electrical fault diagnosis and repairs
- Brakes, suspension and steering
- Timing belts and timing chains
- Wet belt replacements
- Clutches
- Engine repairs
- Cooling system repairs
- DPF, EGR and emissions-related diagnostics
- Air conditioning diagnosis and repairs
- MOT preparation and repairs
- Vehicle health checks
- Manufacturer scheduled maintenance
- General workshop repairs
- Accurate completion of digital job cards and inspections
Experience Required
This position requires a proven track record as a Light Vehicle Technician / Mechanic.
We're looking for someone who can work confidently and efficiently without needing constant supervision.
Applicants should have strong experience in:

✅ General mechanical repairs
✅ Diagnostics and fault finding
✅ Timing belts and chains
✅ Wet belts
✅ Clutches
✅ Brakes and suspension
✅ Electrical fault finding
✅ Using modern diagnostic equipment
✅ Following manufacturer repair procedures
✅ Identifying additional work correctly
Diagnostic ability is particularly important to us.
We're not looking for someone who simply replaces parts until a fault disappears. We're looking for a technician who understands how to test, diagnose and repair vehicles correctly.
Qualifications
Ideally, you'll have:
- NVQ Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence
- Relevant industry experience
An MOT Tester qualification would be advantageous but isn't essential.
EV & Hybrid qualifications would also be advantageous; however, further training and development may be available for the right technician.
