We’re now looking for an experienced Transport Coordinator to join our busy Barnsley operation on a permanent night shift.

As a Transport Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in keeping our transport operation running safely, efficiently, and on time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Briefing and debriefing drivers at the start and end of shifts
- Acting as the first point of contact for driver queries and live operational issues
- Monitoring routes and vehicle movements throughout the shift
- Escalating delays or issues to the Team Manager where required
- Supporting operational excellence across service, cost, and peak planning
- Ensuring legal compliance in line with O-Licence requirements
- Managing payroll administration, holidays, and Kronos exceptions
- Delivering excellent customer service and quick resolutions to operational challenges
No two shifts are the same, so you’ll need to be organised, proactive, and able to make decisions in a fast-moving environment.

Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience working within a busy transport or logistics environment
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Good PC skills including Word and Excel
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to remain calm and organised under pressure
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Gist Barnsley is one of our original distribution centres and has been supporting the M&S Food network since 1971.
The site operates from a 222,000 sq ft warehouse and employs almost 500 colleagues, playing a key role within our national logistics network.
