About the Role:
Belfast has established itself as one of the United Kingdom’s most exciting technology hubs, and at DualTech Digital Systems Ltd, we are building software that supports ambitious businesses across multiple industries.
We develop secure, scalable and reliable digital platforms for organisations that need technology to perform at enterprise level. Our work covers cloud applications, business systems, data platforms and digital transformation projects.
We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer who can provide technical direction across complex software projects. You will not simply deliver assigned development tasks. You will influence architecture, engineering standards and long term technical decisions across the business.
You will work closely with software engineers, product specialists, project managers and client stakeholders to turn complicated operational requirements into dependable and maintainable software solutions.
Why Work With Us?
The Environment:
Our Belfast office is based at Linen Loft, 27 to 37 Adelaide Street, Belfast BT2 8FE, within easy reach of the city centre and public transport links. We provide a professional and collaborative environment where experienced engineers are trusted to manage their work and contribute ideas.
Technical Influence:
This is a senior technical position with genuine influence. You will contribute to architectural decisions, development standards, technology selection and delivery planning from the beginning of each project.
Modern Technology:
Our engineering teams work with technologies such as C Sharp, Java, TypeScript, React, Node.js, SQL, Azure and AWS. We select tools based on project requirements rather than following technology trends without purpose.
Professional Growth:
You will receive support for relevant certifications, technical conferences and professional development. You will also have opportunities to work across cloud engineering, software architecture, system integration and technical consulting.
Key Responsibilities:
Software Architecture:
Define and review technical architecture for scalable, secure and maintainable software applications. Ensure that proposed solutions meet performance, reliability and business requirements.
Technical Leadership:
Provide technical guidance to software engineers across multiple projects. Support engineering teams in resolving complex development, integration and infrastructure challenges.
Software Development:
Design, build and maintain high quality software across backend services, application programming interfaces, databases and cloud based systems.
Code Quality:
Establish and maintain coding standards, testing practices and review processes. Conduct code reviews and promote consistent engineering quality across the team.
System Integration:
Lead the integration of internal applications, cloud platforms, third party services and client systems. Identify technical risks and recommend practical solutions.
Cloud Engineering:
Support the design and deployment of applications using modern cloud services, containerisation, continuous integration and automated delivery pipelines.
Engineering Improvement:
Evaluate existing systems and development processes. Recommend improvements that increase performance, security, maintainability and delivery efficiency.
Mentoring:
Support the development of junior, mid level and senior engineers through technical coaching, knowledge sharing and constructive feedback.
Stakeholder Management:
Explain technical decisions clearly to clients, project teams and senior stakeholders. Translate complex engineering topics into practical business language.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience:
At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including experience leading technical delivery or providing architectural direction on complex projects.
Technical Background:
Strong experience in at least one modern backend programming language such as C Sharp, Java, Python or Node.js.
Architecture:
Demonstrable experience designing distributed applications, cloud based systems, application programming interfaces or enterprise software platforms.
Cloud Knowledge:
Practical experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or another major cloud platform.
Engineering Practices:
Strong understanding of software design principles, automated testing, source control, continuous integration, continuous delivery and secure development practices.
Leadership:
Experience mentoring engineers, reviewing technical work and influencing development standards without relying on formal line management authority.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal English communication skills. You should be comfortable discussing technical decisions with both engineering teams and non technical stakeholders.
Problem Solving:
You are structured, pragmatic and commercially aware. You understand when a system requires a long term architectural solution and when a simpler approach is more appropriate.
Pay: £8,000.00-£9,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
