Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Head Housekeeper to lead the cleaning and maintenance operations within a care home environment. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the housekeeping team to ensure all areas of the care home are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules that cover daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning tasks across all communal areas, bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms
- Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations related to cleaning procedures, chemical handling, and infection control protocols
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are met consistently and address any deficiencies promptly
- Coordinate with management to plan for special cleaning projects or deep cleans following maintenance or incidents
- Train new staff members on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and company policies
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, supplies inventory, and staff schedules
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial cleaning preferably within healthcare or care home settings
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team of cleaning staff
- Knowledge of hospital or healthcare environment standards for cleanliness and infection control
- Ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols while maintaining efficiency under pressure
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in overseeing daily operations
- Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with staff, residents, and management
- Relevant certifications in health & safety or infection control are advantageous
