Job Description for Market Stall Trader
Seeking an enthusiastic part time Market Stall Trader to manage the market stall Saturdays and/or Sundays (shifts 9am to 6pm) at either St Albans or Greenwich markets for our start up vegan and gluten-free bakery! You will drive sales, engage customers, and handle all physical aspects of the stall, including morning setups (help can be provided in setting up the gazebo), end-of-day dismantle, and vehicle loading.
Key Responsibilities
Stall Operations & Logistics
- Set-Up & Pack Down: Safely load and unload the vehicle, and execute the full setup and dismantling of the market stall and display.
- Stall Maintenance: Keep the workspace hygienic, visually appealing, and well-stocked throughout the trading day.
Sales & Customer Service
- Customer Engagement: Proactively engage visitors, answer questions about bakery ingredients, and enthusiastically drive sales.
- Professionalism: Maintain a bubbly, welcoming, and attentive presence at the stall. Focus entirely on the customers; continuous use of personal mobile phones is strictly prohibited.
Product Knowledge
- Act as a brand ambassador, confidently explaining the dietary benefits and flavour profiles of our vegan and gluten-free cakes, brownies, and cookies.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Personality: Bubbly, outgoing, and genuinely passionate about delivering exceptional customer service.
· Must be able to work in the UK
· Must hold a valid UK Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety certificate or willingness to complete a Level 2 Food Hygiene course prior to your first shift (funded by the company).
- Dietary Lifestyle: Preferably vegan or gluten-free, or possessing a strong personal interest in these dietary lifestyles.
- Physical Capability: Capable of lifting and carrying heavy bakery crates, folding tables, and gazebos, as well as loading/unloading vehicles.
- Work Ethic: Highly reliable, punctual, and driven to maximize sales. Must be fully present and engaged with customers during working hours.
