Gama Aviation is one of the UK’s leading Business Aviation organisations, supporting a diverse fleet of aircraft, including both rotary and fixed-wing, across maintenance, modification and operational support activities. As our Staverton operation continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Shift Lead Engineer to join our Rotary Base Maintenance team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an established Licensed Aircraft Engineer, with extensive rotary base maintenance experience, who is looking to take the next step in their career, combining technical expertise with leadership responsibility. You will play a key role in leading the engineering teams, driving productivity, managing customer expectations and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of aircraft maintenance activities.
Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you will take ownership of shift performance, aircraft delivery schedules and team leadership whilst remaining actively involved in a fast-paced maintenance environment. We are looking for an experienced Licensed Aircraft Engineer ideally with experience on the H145, AW169 or AW139 (although not essential), strong leadership capability and a passion for developing high-performing teams.

/ Responsibilities:
- Delivery of the daily production/safety brief of the team at shift start
- Working closely with resource scheduling and the LAE team, ensuring the team is correctly allocated to tasks as per the production plan and aircraft needs, but also have ability to adjust accordingly to dynamic changes as they occur to produce the most productive outcome
- Ensuring that the shift operates in compliance with Health and Safety requirements and quality procedures with a clear focus on well-being of the team
- Responsible for the shift’s compliance with company practices, time booking accuracy, attendance, and appearance
- Accountable for timely reporting of quality and safety events, assessment and closing actions of quality and safety findings delegated by the quality team to you
- Working closely with the opposite shift leads, ensuring full and detailed shift handover reports are produced and delivered prior to shift end
- Take ownership of aircraft delivery timescales and escalating this to senior management when unable to resolve at the daily brief
- Responsible and accountable for the hangar daily control, to include aircraft movements, housekeeping of the hangar environment and support of visiting customers
/ Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
- A UK CAA Part 66 Licence Category B1 or B2 with C rating and a minimum of two rotary type ratings
- Significant helicopter base maintenance and line maintenance experience with a wide knowledge and skill range in servicing, inspection repair and modifications
- Previous experience leading or supervising engineering teams within rotary aircraft maintenance environments
- Experience managing multiple maintenance inputs simultaneously
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to make decisions in a dynamic operational environment
- Strong focus on safety, quality and customer service
