We believe our residents deserve a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment, and we're looking for a skilled and dependable Bank Maintenance Person to support us whenever required.
The Role
This is a bank (as required) position to provide maintenance cover during emergencies, unexpected breakdowns, sickness, and annual leave of our permanent Maintenance Person.
You will be contacted when maintenance support is required and will be expected to respond promptly where reasonably possible. This role is ideal for someone with a trade background, particularly in plumbing and carpentry, who enjoys varied work and can work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out reactive maintenance and emergency repairs across the care home.
- Provide maintenance cover during the annual leave or absence of the permanent Maintenance Person.
- Undertake general repairs including plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and other handyman duties.
- Diagnose maintenance issues and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
- Carry out routine safety checks where required, including fire safety equipment, emergency lighting, water temperatures, and general building inspections.
- Ensure the home, grounds, fixtures, and fittings remain safe, secure, and well maintained.
- Liaise with external contractors where specialist repairs are required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work completed.
- Report any significant defects or health and safety concerns to the Operations Manager.
- Support compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety, COSHH, and other statutory regulations.
- Always work in a manner that promotes the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of our residents.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has practical experience in property maintenance or a recognised trade.
- Has good plumbing and carpentry skills (essential).
- Can undertake a wide range of general maintenance tasks.
- Is reliable, trustworthy, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Has good problem-solving skills and takes pride in producing high-quality work.
- Has a good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Is flexible and available to work at short notice when required.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience working within a care home, healthcare, hospitality, or similar environment is desirable but not essential.
- Lives within a reasonable travelling distance of Exmouth to enable attendance for urgent call-outs.
