Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Gardener/Cleaner to support our team in cleaning and enhancing outdoor spaces. This role involves assisting with gardening tasks, landscape maintenance, and cleaning duties in our 5 Star Gold Award Holiday Cottages - www.beechcroft.org
This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in cleaning and practical ground management within a professional setting.
Duties
- Assist with planting, pruning, weeding, and general garden care using hand tools and gardening equipment
- Operate power tools such as trimmers, lawn mowers, and leaf blowers to maintain outdoor areas
- Support irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance to ensure proper watering of plants
- Help with landscape maintenance tasks including soil preparation, fertilising, and mulching
- Clean outdoor spaces by removing debris, litter, and organic waste to uphold cleanliness standards
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of garden features or outdoor furniture for events or seasonal changes
- Follow health and safety guidelines while handling tools and equipment to prevent accidents or injuries
Experience
- Prior experience in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems is advantageous
- Growing experience or knowledge of plant care and horticultural practices will be considered a plus
- Basic understanding of rural principles and landscape aesthetics is desirable
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina for tasks involving lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
- Cleaning to a high standard as part of the team
