Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant/Relief Cook to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation and culinary arts to contribute to a busy kitchen environment. The successful candidate will support daily meal service, assist with food preparation, and ensure the smooth operation of kitchen activities. Prior experience in a similar setting is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. This position is paid and suitable for those looking to develop their skills within a professional kitchen.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the head chef or senior kitchen staff
- Support meal preparation for various dietary requirements and menu items
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations
- Help with cleaning, organising, and sanitising kitchen equipment and work areas
- Serve meals to clients or customers as required, ensuring presentation standards are met
- Assist with stock rotation, inventory checks, and ordering supplies when necessary
- Support relief cooking duties during busy periods or staff absences
Requirements
- Experience in food preparation, cooking, or a related culinary role is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices in a professional kitchen environment
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to adapt to varying tasks and shifts as needed
- Previous experience in a restaurant or catering setting is advantageous but not essential
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as required
Pay: £13.00 per hour
