About the Role
Nexis Academy is expanding its renewables provision and is seeking highly qualified and occupationally competent professionals to deliver, assess and quality assure our Level 3 Award in Heat Pump Systems (non-refrigerant circuits).
We are recruiting for the following roles (candidates may apply for one role or a combination):
Heat Pump Systems Tutor / Teacher
Assessor
Internal Quality Assurer (IQA)
You will play a key role in training the next generation of MCS-ready heat pump installers, ensuring learners gain the knowledge and practical skills required to work safely and competently on air source and ground source heat pump systems.
Key Responsibilities
As a Tutor / Teacher you will:
Deliver high-quality theory and practical training on the BPEC-aligned Level 3 Award in Heat Pump Systems (non-refrigerant circuits).
Teach core topics including: heat pump principles, vapour compression cycle, system components (evaporator, condenser, compressor, expansion devices), hydraulic design, commissioning, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and compliance with MIS 3005 standards.
Prepare learners for both theory and practical assessments.
As an Assessor you will:
Carry out fair, valid and reliable assessments in line with awarding organisation and MCS requirements.
Assess both knowledge (written/multiple choice) and practical competence in workshop and real working environments.
Provide constructive feedback and support learners to achieve.
Maintain accurate assessment records and documentation.
As an IQA (Internal Quality Assurer) you will:
Monitor and sample assessment decisions to ensure consistency and compliance.
Support and standardise assessors through observation, feedback and CPD.
Ensure all assessment and internal quality processes meet awarding body, MCS and regulatory requirements.
Heat Pump Specific Qualification
A current and recognised Level 3 qualification in Heat Pump Systems (e.g. BPEC Level 3 Award in Heat Pump Systems (non-refrigerant circuits), City & Guilds, or LCL equivalent). Must be achieved within the last 5 years or supported by recent CPD.
Teaching Qualification (for Tutor role)
Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent, e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, or DTLLS).
Assessor Qualification
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent (A1/D32/D33).
IQA Qualification (for IQA role)
Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (or equivalent – V1/D34).
Current Industry Knowledge
Up-to-date knowledge of MCS standards, MIS 3005 (I & D), Building Regulations, and Water Regulations.
Pay: £25.00-£40.00 per hour
