Home Ownership Officer – Housing
Hours: 36 Hours Per Week, Usually Tuesdays in the office with the rest WFH
Contract: 12 Week Temporary Contract (with project-based work)
We're recruiting Home Ownership Officers to support Housing & Growth services with specialist leasehold and service charge management. This is a key role, ideal for someone with strong housing finance knowledge, leasehold management experience, and confidence working in a busy local authority environment.
About the Role:
As a Home Ownership Officer, you'll provide essential support in calculating, notifying, and billing service charges, rents, and ground rents, while ensuring compliance with legislation and lease agreements.
What you'll be doing:
- Calculating, notifying, and billing estimated and actual service charges (including major works), shared ownership rent, and ground rent
- Undertaking consultations under Section 20 of the Landlord and Tenants Act 1985, ensuring compliance with leases and legislation
- Providing information, support, and guidance to leaseholders, shared owners, and housing staff regarding service charges, major works, and lease obligations
- Handling enquiries and disputes related to service charges and major works
- Assisting collection officers to maximise recovery of homeowner rents, service charges, and related income to maintain Housing Revenue Account (HRA) viability
Requirements:
We're looking for someone proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in housing finance and leasehold management.
You'll ideally have:
- Leasehold management experience (essential)
- Section 20 consultation experience (essential)
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation and leasehold compliance
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with housing teams
