We are seeking a dedicated Funeral Service Operative to join our professional team.

This is predominantly a 9am-5pm role but you will be expected to be flexible and work variable hours and serve as the primary contact for our out-of-hours on-call rota, which operates on a one-in-four-week schedule. This aspect of the role is paid as a fixed amount in addition to the basic wage. Furthermore, you will have the option to become a paid volunteer to serve as the second primary contact as part of your responsibilities.

Duties
- Assisting with the preparation and presentation of funeral vehicles and equipment in accordance with company standards.
- Safely transporting coffins, caskets, and funeral equipment to various locations.
- Hearse, limousine and private ambulance driver
- Working in the mortuary, fitting coffins as well as participating in funeral services, pallbearing, and helping to ensure everything goes smoothly
- Preparation and presentation of the deceased, which includes suturing and facial features, dressing them with the dignity and respect this personal act requires.
- Managing stock, fridge space etc
- Hospital, care home and residential transfers
- Transferring cremated remains into clients' chosen vessels
- Assist and support with the interment of cremated remains with families
- Bank and post office runs
Requirements
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively.
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential
- Training will be provided
- Flexibility of working hours when required, paid as overtime
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a respectful manner when interacting with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a sensitive environment.
- A valid driving licence is mandatory. Applicants should demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and reliability at all times.
- 6 month probation period
Pay: From £29,000.00 per year
