Role: Customer Assistant (Nights)
Hours: 10pm – 6am, rolling 4 nights on, 4 nights off
Position Summary
As a Customer Assistant at Browns Food Stores, you will strive to make a difference to our customers every visit. Exceptional customer service is the essence to this role, which you will deliver with Browns Customer Promise at the forefront.
Customer Assistants show the initiative and pro-active approach required to allow the smooth running of the store whilst maintaining high standards of work. You will focus on Customer Service and ensure that forecourt safety and security, operational and cleanliness standards are maintained.
You will perform varied roles across the site, with the majority outlined below.
Your Responsibilities
1. Proudly represent Browns Food Stores by maintaining a professional appearance
2. Exhibit a cheerful and helpful manner when dealing with our customers and their needs
3. Conduct yourself in a mature and professional manner, treating fellow employees with sensitivity and respect.
4. Handle transactions with ease, and operate the cash register efficiently, ensuring the tills are balanced correctly, minimising shortages (i.e. till variance)
5. Merchandising and stock replenishment - Ensuring our shelves remain as full as possible and products are in the right place at the right time for our customers.
6. Reducing wastage by following product due diligence and markdowns to those reaching their sell by dates.
7. Maintain a safe, clean and tidy working environment with general shop keeping tasks so customers receive the best experience. This involves a variety of tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning restrooms, and restocking supplies.
8. Management of fuel deliveries, ensuring sales are not disrupted.
9. Keeping the forecourt tidy, including stocking gloves, removing rubbish and emptying bins.
10. Following job lists closely and to an excellent standard.

Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively during night shifts
- Customer service experience in retail
- Ability to handle cash transactions and operate point-of-sale systems
- Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused attitude
