Job Summary
The Coaching Inn Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the safe operation of the Coaching Inn facilities, equipment, and guest rooms and cottages. The role involves performing preventive maintenance, responding to repair requests, and helping provide a safe, comfortable environment for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair Coaching Inn buildings and cottages, guest rooms, and common areas.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and Coaching Inn staff.
- Repair fixtures, furniture, doors, windows, locks, and appliances.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to lighting, heating, and water systems.
- Maintain landscaping equipment, and other Coaching Inn facilities as assigned.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and report hazards or equipment failures.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and building regulations.
- Keep maintenance records and complete work orders accurately.
- Assist with emergency repairs and after-hours maintenance when required.
- Coordinate with contractors and service providers for specialized repairs.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in building maintenance, hotel maintenance, or a related trade preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general repairs.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and customer service abilities.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.

Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimise downtime.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems using schematics and technical manuals.
- Operate and programme programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to support automation processes.
- Perform welding tasks as required, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and maintenance manuals accurately.
- Assist in the installation, modification, and upgrade of equipment and systems.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Collaborate with team members to supervise maintenance activities when necessary, providing leadership where appropriate.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal client needs promptly and professionally.
Skills
- Proven experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) programmes and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of schematics, technical drawings, and electrical wiring diagrams.
- Competence in welding techniques with a focus on safety standards.
- Electrical experience including wiring, circuit testing, and component replacement.
- Mechanical knowledge related to machinery maintenance and repair.
- Demonstrated ability in general maintenance tasks across various systems.
- Fluency in English, with good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Supervising experience or leadership qualities that support team coordination.
- Customer service orientation with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
