Relief Delivery Driver & Maintenance Assistant
Ideal School Meals provides a range of catering services to educational settings across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire.
We have a vacancy for a Relief Delivery Driver & Maintenance Assistant to provide cover for staff absences at kitchen sites across Lincolnshire. Sleaford is our most central operational base, with our head office located in Spalding, Lincolnshire. You will be required to work from various kitchen sites in Boston, Bourne, Grantham, Gainsborough and Sleaford, covering a range of delivery routes as required.
As part of your role, you will carry out vehicle checks and arrange vehicles for MOTs, servicing, maintenance and repairs. You will also ensure that vehicle tax and MOT records are kept up to date. Experience carrying out minor vehicle maintenance, such as changing tyres, light bulbs and wiper blades, would be advantageous.
During periods of staff absence, you will be responsible for delivering school meals to local primary schools, following set delivery routes and schedules. Working hours will vary depending on demand but will typically fall between 9:30am and 2:30pm, with a short lunch break. A company vehicle will be provided for use during working hours only. Applicants must hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to their own transport to travel to and from the allocated kitchen sites.
When delivery cover is not required, you will also assist with the maintenance of our kitchen sites. This will include light painting and decorating, carrying out minor repairs, assembling or repairing equipment, deep cleaning, and completing general maintenance and caretaking tasks to help ensure our sites remain safe, clean and well maintained.
Are you our ideal candidate?
You will:
- Hold a full, valid UK driving licence.
- Be polite, reliable, smart and well presented, with excellent customer service skills.
- Be able to follow set delivery routes within the required timescales, accurately checking deliveries at each stop.
- Ideally hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification; however, full training will be provided to candidates with a good understanding of food hygiene.
- Have practical DIY or maintenance skills and be confident carrying out light maintenance tasks using a range of hand and power tools.
This is a physically demanding role that involves regular heavy lifting, so please bear this in mind before applying.
The role is due to commence in September and is term time only.
