County Clothes has been dressing men across Kent, East Sussex, and Surrey since 1976. Our Canterbury store is looking for a full-time Sales Assistant to join the team and help deliver the personal, knowledgeable service our customers have come to expect.
Overview
We're after someone who genuinely enjoys menswear and takes pride in helping customers find exactly what they need — whether that's a smart-casual look for the weekend, a suit for a big occasion, or advice on the latest brands. You'll be the face of the store, working closely with the wider County Clothes team to keep Canterbury running smoothly and looking great.
Hours: Full-time, including weekend

Responsibilities
- Deliver friendly, attentive customer service on the shop floor, helping customers find the right fit, style, and size
- Build and maintain strong product knowledge across our brand range to give confident styling advice
- Process sales transactions accurately using the till system (CLU).
- Maintain visual merchandising standards — keeping displays, rails, and windows tidy, well-stocked, and true to brand guidelines
- Receive, check, and replenish stock deliveries
- Handle customer queries, alterations, and orders with a helpful, solutions-first attitude
- Support seasonal events and in-store promotions (sales evenings, launches, community events)
- Help maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming store environment
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and management to hit sales targets and store standards
Skills & Experience
- Previous retail experience preferred, ideally in menswear or fashion
- Genuine interest in men's clothing, style, and current trends
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — comfortable approaching and engaging customers
- A team player with a positive, can-do attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible with working hours (including weekends)
- Good attention to detail, particularly with visual merchandising and stock handling
- Basic numeracy and confidence using a till/POS system
- Willingness to learn product ranges and brand stories quickly
Pay: £24,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
