Overview
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Tutors for Alternative Provision in Poole. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support young people with diverse learning needs, helping them achieve their full potential within a specialised educational environment. The successful candidates will be committed to fostering a positive learning experience and promoting inclusive education for children requiring additional support.
Duties
- Deliver personalised tutoring sessions tailored to individual student needs, focusing on academic and social development
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with each student’s educational goals and abilities
- Support students in building confidence, independence, and social skills through targeted activities
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to relevant staff and parents or guardians
- Collaborate with other education professionals to adapt teaching strategies and resources effectively
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment conducive to learning and personal growth
- Assist in behaviour management strategies to promote positive conduct within the provision setting
Skills
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, ideally within special education or alternative provision settings
- Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with children of varying ages and backgrounds
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs and behavioural challenges
- Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to plan, assess, and adjust lessons accordingly
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children requiring additional support
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to promoting a safe learning environment

Tutors to work 1:1 with school-aged pupils
- Teacher trained /experienced TA preferred.
- Must be registered as self-employed
- Must have an Enhanced DBS registered on the update service
- Must have Level 2 Safeguarding Training
- Must have tutor insurance
