Justteachers teaching agency is recruiting for a passionate and experienced SEND teaching assistant to work full time within one of our partner primary schools located in the Blackley area of Manchester.
The role is to work with a child in KS1 on a 1:1 basis with specific needs including language difficulties and behavioural issues.
You will be positive and passionate about working with children with SEND and truly want to make a real difference to the child every day and help shape the person they become in later life.
You will have:
- Qualifications: A relevant Level 3 child care or Teaching Assistant qualification, plus specialized SEND training (e.g., Team-Teach, Makaton, PECS, or Autism awareness).
- SEND Experience: Proven experience supporting pupils with complex needs, such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Tailored Support: Ability to confidently adapt lesson plans and learning materials to match the specific needs and abilities of an individual child.
- EHCP Understanding: Familiarity with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and experience tracking targets alongside teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists.
- De-escalation Skills: Strong behavior management techniques with a calm, patient, and resilient approach to handling challenging situations or sensory overload.
- Attributes: Exceptional empathy, thick skin, and the ability to build a deep, trusting 1:1 relationship with a pupil while encouraging their independence.
- Compliance: An Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one) and two professional, checkable references covering the last two years.
