TMA is a boutique specialist firm delivering Agreed Upon Procedures reviews and portfolio due diligence for institutional lenders, banks, funders, and investors. We cover consumer and business lending, regulated and unregulated, secured and unsecured across the credit spectrum. Our work spans asset classes including asset finance (motor, equipment, hire purchase, finance lease), receivables finance, mortgage and bridging, development finance, credit cards, debt purchase and NPLs, and SME and commercial originations.
We are looking for a Credit Risk Associate to join our associate network, supporting engagement delivery across a portfolio of bank and fund clients. This role can be structured on a consultancy basis (via your own limited company) or as a full-time position, depending on fit.
Key Responsibilities
● Conduct loan-level and portfolio-level testing against agreed scope, credit policy, and regulatory requirements
● Review underwriting files and credit committee papers across secured and unsecured lending products
● Assess credit policy and underwriting decisions for compliance with lender criteria, FCA regulated and unregulated frameworks as applicable
● Draft findings with clear evidence trails, ensuring each finding and recommendation is traceable to the other
● Maintain clear working papers and documentation to support all testing and findings
● Support senior team members on data requests, sampling methodology, and client queries
● Contribute to report drafting following TMA's house style and RAG rating framework
● Manage own workload across multiple concurrent engagements to agreed deadlines
Requirements
● 2-5 years experience in credit risk, underwriting, or credit analysis
● Product exposure across one or more of: asset finance, mortgage lending, development finance, consumer lending, debt purchase, SME and business lending
● Familiarity with both regulated (FCA) and unregulated lending frameworks
● Background in financial services essential; credit rating agencies, specialist lending, or banking preferred
● Strong attention to detail and clear, factual written communication
● Proficient in MS Office products especially Excel and PowerPoint and comfortable working with loan-level data extracts and testing workbooks
● Comfortable working independently against defined scope in a remote-first environment
● Ability to manage confidential and sensitive client/borrower data appropriately and in line with data protection regulations
● Progress toward a relevant professional qualification preferred but not required
