Job Summary
Access to transport and a telephone are essential due to the location and nature of the job.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an enhanced CRB disclosure, employee to meet the cost.
Employer will reimburse the cost with first pay. If employee leaves within 6 months, CRB cost will be re-couped.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
To be responsible for the efficient, safe and hygienic running of the kitchen.
To prepare and cook a balanced, nutritious diet within a controlled environment
To control systems of food allocation to minimize wastage
The chef / cook will:
- Prepare and serve nutritionally balanced and attractively presented meals.
- Be responsible for efficiency, hygiene and safety in the catering area and to organise and supervise the work of other staff helping in the kitchen.
- Help plan the menus to provide balanced, varied and interesting meals for residents, providing when necessary for any special diets, taking note of resident preferences and making the best use of fresh vegetable and fruit in season.
- Check of food stocks, make lists of requirements
- Prepare cook and serve meals and clear and wash up.
- Comply with Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH, in the kitchen and other catering areas.
- Adopt a responsible attitude towards the care and use of furniture, equipment and the fabric of the care home and to be vigilant around the efficient use of gas, electricity, water etc.
- Participate in staff meetings and in training activities as required
- Perform any task reasonably assigned to you.
