These rewarding roles involve supporting children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll provide tailored support both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping pupils access learning, build confidence and develop key life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
While previous experience supporting children with SEN is highly valued, schools are also keen to hear from enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate individuals who are eager to develop their skills within specialist education.
What the role offers:
- Full-time and part-time opportunities available
- 1:1 and small group SEN support roles
- Work with pupils across a range of ages and additional needs
- Excellent experience for aspiring teachers, psychologists, therapists or anyone pursuing a career in education or care
What you will need to succeed:
School leaders are looking for confident, patient and adaptable individuals with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. Whether you're an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant, have a background in care or youth work, or are looking to start a career in education, this is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference.
The ideal Teaching Assistant will:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN in a school, care or community setting (desirable but not essential)
- Be confident working on a 1:1 basis and with small groups
- Be patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Be flexible and proactive in supporting a range of learning and behavioural needs
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, families and external professionals
- Be able to work 8:30am – 4:00pm
