Personal Assistant Wanted – 4 Hours per Week (Direct Payments)
- Reference Number: VAC/0726/07289
- Closing Date:02/08/2026
About Me
I am a lady in my mid-50s living in Connah’s Quay, and I’m looking for a Personal Assistant to support me for 4 hours a week through Direct Payments.
I am looking for is someone with the right personality who can help me get back out into the world, regain some independence and enjoy life again.
I live with Multiple Sclerosis and an arthritic spine, which affect my mobility and cause pain. I use a wheelchair and can transfer independently, but my eyesight is also affected. I experience double vision and difficulties with depth perception, which means I can’t safely get out and about in my wheelchair on my own and need someone to accompany me.
I moved back to the area last year and, due to my health, I haven’t had the opportunity to build up many local connections. As a result, I’ve become very reliant on my elderly father for support, and I’d really like to change that.
A bit about me
I’m friendly, intelligent, chatty and have a good sense of humour. I’m an optimistic person and tend to approach life positively, even when things are difficult. I’m resilient, determined and I try hard not to let my health define who I am.
I enjoy good conversation and the company of others, although I’m equally happy in my own company too.
Music is a big part of my life. I’m a fan of folk music, but my tastes are pretty varied and include bands like Motörhead too. I love motorbikes and used to ride myself, so anything involving bikes or bike events is definitely of interest to me.
I also enjoy a good game of scrabble
The role could include supporting me to:
- Get out and about in the community.
- Go shopping for food, clothes, furniture or just for fun.
- Attend concerts, live music events and local groups.
- Visit bike events or other places of interest.
- Access the neurological centre in Deeside to support my mobility and wellbeing.
- Enjoy local walks and trips out.
- Help me manage paperwork and post.
- Support me with maintaining my home and staying organised.
- Explore new activities and opportunities in the local area.
Ultimately, I simply want to be able to do the ordinary things that many people take for granted — shopping, browsing around town, meeting people, attending events, listening to live music and having experiences to look forward to.
Spending long periods stuck indoors has a negative impact on anyone’s mental wellbeing, motivation and physical health, and I want to build a life that feels bigger than my living room walls.
Experience in care is much less important to me than kindness, reliability, a sense of humour and a genuine interest in helping someone live life on their own terms.
If you’re the sort of person who enjoys good conversation, music, a laugh and helping someone reconnect with their community and independence, I’d love to hear from you.
The ideal candidate will be:
- Someone who is friendly, reliable, patient and easy to get along with
- A good sense of humour is essential
- What I’d really love is to find someone who shares some of my interests and outlook on life. Someone who values conversation, laughter, independence and companionship more than providing traditional care.
- Experience in care is much less important to me than kindness, reliability, a sense of humour and a genuine interest in helping someone live life on their own terms.
- You will need a full, clean driving license and access to your own car with business insurance
- .Enhanced DBS must be in place prior to support starting – the DBS is completed as no cost by my Local Authority
