We are seeking an experienced Head Veterinary Nurse to lead, guide, and support our nursing team as our practice continues to expand. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and take pride in managing both clinical operations and team dynamics, we would love to hear from you!
About the Role
As Head Nurse, you will bridge clinical excellence and operational management. You will work alongside our Practice Manager to oversee daily workflows, ensure exceptional standards of patient care, and foster a supportive, structured environment where nurses and care assistants can develop their skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Development: Line-manage nursing staff, conduct appraisals, organise rotas, and mentor junior nurses and students.
- Practice Workflow: Oversee daily clinical flow across theatre, inpatient care, consultations, and triage to ensure smooth, efficient operations.
- Protocol & Quality Management: Maintain high clinical protocols, nurse-led clinics, RCVS standards, and health & safety compliance.
- Stock & Equipment Management: Oversee clinical inventory, order management, and maintenance of veterinary equipment.
- Client Engagement: Model outstanding client communication and handle escalated client queries with empathy and professionalism.
Requirements & Experience
- RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN): Essential.
- Leadership Experience: Proven track record in managing, organising, and developing people within a busy clinical setting.
- Organisational Skills: Excellent multi-tasking and time-management abilities, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to build strong working relationships across the entire practice team.
