We are looking for cheese enthusiasts to join our passionate and knowledgeable Cale Street team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to expand their career within the artisan food and/or cheese world.
This is a full time role for 5 days a week, although more shifts may be available on a week-to-week basis. Weekend availability necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide warm, informed and professional customer service, whilst offering expert cheese recommendations
- Cut, wrap, weigh, and label cheese to the highest standard
- Maintain an attractive and well-stocked cheese counter
- Assist with stock rotation and merchandising responsibilities
- Support with occasional in-store tastings and events
- Keep the shop clean, well presented, and hygienic at all times
What We're Looking For:
- A genuine interest in cheese and artisan food
- Previous retail or food service experience (preferred but not essential)
- Friendly, enthusiastic, and professional manner
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to learn and follow food hygiene procedures
- Availability to work weekends and busy seasonal periods

Duties
- Assist customers in selecting cheeses, offering tasting samples and tailored recommendations based on their preferences
- Educate shoppers about different cheese varieties, origins, flavor profiles, and pairing ideas to enhance their experience
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the cheese display cases and storage areas in compliance with food safety standards
- Prepare and portion cheeses for display, catering events, or in-store sampling stations with precision and care
- Support meal preparation and food presentation by collaborating with kitchen staff during events or in-store demonstrations
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of cheese products to preserve freshness and quality
- Provide excellent serving experiences by engaging with customers warmly and professionally throughout their visit
Experience
- Previous experience working in a restaurant or food service environment is highly preferred
- Knowledge of catering, cooking, or culinary practices related to cheese or general food preparation is advantageous
- Familiarity with food safety protocols and proper handling of perishable products is essential
- Experience in kitchen settings or meal preparation roles will support success in this position
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate enthusiastically about food offerings are important
- Basic understanding of serving techniques within retail or restaurant contexts enhances performance in this role
