About the role
Shield Build Ltd is looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our growing team.
We specialise in high-quality home extensions and refurbishments across Sussex and Surrey, with most projects located within 30–40 minutes of Crawley Down (RH10).
You’ll be working on-site as part of a skilled team, carrying out a range of carpentry works to a high standard, supporting the Director to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and with pride in the finished result.
Key responsibilities
- Carrying out first- and second-fix carpentry works
- Working on extensions, refurbishments, and general building projects
- Following drawings, instructions, and site direction
- Maintaining a tidy, safe, and professional site
- Supporting site progress by taking photos or updates when requested
- Working cooperatively with other trades on site
What we’re looking for
- Strong carpentry background with experience in extensions and refurbishments
- Confident with both first- and second-fix carpentry
- Reliable, organised, and proud of your workmanship
- Comfortable interacting with clients on site in a professional manner, while referring any queries beyond the scope of works to the Site Foreman or Director
- Able to work well as part of a small, close-knit team
- Holds a full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK (references preferred)
- Comfortable using a smartphone and willing to download and use a work app to log photos, updates, and hours as part of the role.
