The post holder will provide a specialist addictions service and work with service users to comprehensively assess their needs, identify options to meet those needs, and negotiate and review appropriate care within the parameters of the ABSDAS eligibility criteria.
To deliver treatment, therapeutic intervention and support to those who have individualised, complex issues alongside their substance use. The Complex Services Team is commissioned to provide for service users who have additional complex issues affecting their psychological, physical and / or social functioning. The nature of this service user group necessitates detailed, comprehensive and robust packages of care that address all aspects of their psychosocial needs to promote progressive and positive change.
This post is a fixed term/secondment for 10 months until 31st March 2027 due to secondment cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced mental health nurse to join the Aneurin Bevan Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service (ABSDAS) as a Specialist Addictions Nurse for a fixed term period until 31/03/2027. This will be as part of the South team (Newport & Caerphilly area), based in Newport and Caerphilly.
ABSDAS is a community based service that provides treatment for drug and/or alcohol dependent adults aged 18 and over. ABSDAS provides an extensive treatment and case management service to people experiencing problems with substance use and associated complexities including mental health, physical health, pregnancy and child protection issues. The successful candidate will work with service users to comprehensively assess their needs and develop an appropriate care plan. This will aim to address their physical and psychological well-being in addition to their substance use.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
