Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Live-in/Live-out Sous Chef or Trainee Sous Chef to join our esteemed culinary team. Duties
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
- Supervise kitchen staff during service, ensuring smooth operation and adherence to food safety regulations
- Manage food production processes, including portioning, plating, and presentation of dishes
- Oversee the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment to maintain hygiene standards
- Support in training junior team members in food preparation, safety procedures, and service techniques
- Contribute ideas for menu development and seasonal offerings
- Ensure all food is prepared efficiently and served promptly to meet customer expectations
- Maintain stock levels, assist with inventory management, and report any shortages or issues
Experience
- Proven experience in a professional kitchen setting, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality environment
- Supervising experience is advantageous but not essential for trainees eager to learn on the job
- Strong background in food production, cooking techniques, and food safety standards
- Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively and lead by example
- Knowledge of culinary practices, presentation skills, and restaurant operations
- Familiarity with serving procedures and customer service principles is desirable
- Previous experience in hospitality or catering roles will be considered an asset
