Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaning Operative to join our team at The Meadows Shopping Centre, Chelmsford. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across various commercial premises. This role offers flexible hours suitable for individuals seeking part-time employment, with an emphasis on delivering high-quality cleaning services in a professional manner. Prior experience in janitorial work or commercial cleaning is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning duties in commercial environments, including offices, retail spaces, and other public areas
- Use appropriate cleaning equipment and products to ensure surfaces are hygienic and presentable
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, windows, restrooms, and common areas according to company standards
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times to ensure a safe working environment
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet roll as needed
- Report any maintenance issues or hazards identified during cleaning activities to management promptly
- Adhere to scheduled cleaning routines and complete tasks within designated timeframes
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to understand cleaning requirements and expectations.
- Undertake allocated cleaning tasks and other reasonable requests made by the Line Manager as necessary to ensure a pleasant first impression is given to visitors and compliance with current regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to requests or concerns from clients.
- As well as working within a great team ethic, you must also have the desire and dedication to ensure this fabulous Centre remains secure, clean & safe to all visitors and colleagues.
Skills
- Previous experience in cleaning in a retail environment is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality of work
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good organizational skills and reliability
- A good command of English is necessary for effective communication with clients and team members and the general public.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning operations
- Physical stamina to perform manual tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
