Join Our Specialist Support Team
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and reliable Female Learning Disability Support Worker / Care Assistant to provide person-centred support to a client living in their own home in York.
This is a rewarding opportunity to build a positive, trusting relationship with a regular client while supporting their independence, wellbeing, and daily routine.
The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and be passionate about delivering high-quality care and support.
Please note: Due to the personal care requirements of the service user, this role is restricted to female applicants under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
Pay Rate
- £13.32 per hour
- Applicants must have a minimum of 2 years' professional Learning Disability support or care experience
Working Pattern
This role consists of:
- 2:30pm - 5:00pm shifts
- 4-5 days per week
- Typically 3-4 weekdays and 1 weekend day
- Working pattern can be adjusted by agreement to meet the needs of the service and the successful candidate
This role offers consistent part-time hours with a regular client and a supportive care team.
What You'll Be Doing
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing person-centred support tailored to the client's individual needs
- Supporting independence and daily living activities
- Providing companionship and emotional support
- Assisting with community access and social engagement
- Promoting wellbeing, confidence, and choice
- Supporting routines and structured activities
- Maintaining accurate care records and communication notes
- Building a positive and professional working relationship with the client
About the Client
The client has a small dog, so applicants must be comfortable working in a home where a dog is present and ideally enjoy being around dogs.
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' professional experience supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities
- Right to work in the UK
- Caring, patient, and dependable nature
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Comfortable working in a home with a small dog
- Ability to work a combination of weekday and weekend shifts
Important Information
A driving licence is not required for this role, provided you can reliably travel to and from the client's home for your scheduled shifts.
We are unable to offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship or transfer existing sponsorships. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.
