Duties
- Develop and implement diverse activity programs that encourage participation and enjoyment among residents
- Lead engaging activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, games, outings, and themed events
- Assess residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs to tailor activities appropriately
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s by creating specialized activity plans that promote cognitive engagement
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities align with individual care plans and safety protocols
- Foster a positive community environment by encouraging social interaction and participation
- Maintain activity logs, resident participation records, and report on program outcomes to management
Skills
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly desirable
- Knowledge of senior care practices, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care techniques
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members
- Compassionate caregiving approach with patience and understanding for diverse needs
- Ability to plan creative activities that are inclusive and accessible for all residents
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously
- Enthusiastic attitude with a genuine passion for enriching the lives of seniors through engaging programs
