We are seeking an experienced Mail Operations Director to lead service delivery, distribution workflows, workforce performance, client operations, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
You will oversee daily mail-processing and fulfilment activities, establish operational priorities, manage budgets and service targets, and ensure that client requirements are completed accurately, securely, and on schedule.
This position is suited to an accomplished operations professional with substantial experience in mail services, distribution, logistics, fulfilment, courier operations, or business services.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational plans for mail processing, fulfilment, and distribution services
- Oversee daily sorting, preparation, dispatch, collection, and delivery activities
- Lead operations managers, supervisors, administrative teams, and service personnel
- Establish productivity, accuracy, turnaround-time, and service-quality targets
- Monitor workloads, staffing levels, equipment capacity, and operational schedules
- Ensure client mail and documents are handled accurately and securely
- Review operating costs, departmental budgets, forecasts, and performance results
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality, and cost control
- Monitor key performance indicators and prepare reports for company leadership
- Manage relationships with major clients, delivery partners, suppliers, and contractors
- Support client onboarding, service implementation, and contract reviews
- Resolve significant service issues and implement corrective actions
- Oversee supplier performance and negotiate operational service agreements
- Coordinate with finance, commercial, customer service, and administration teams
- Maintain business continuity and contingency plans for operational disruptions
- Ensure compliance with data protection, health and safety, security, and company procedures
- Lead recruitment, training, development, and performance management across operational teams
- Support service expansion, technology implementation, and process-improvement projects
What We Are Looking For
Experience
- Eight or more years of experience in mail operations, logistics, distribution, fulfilment, courier services, or a related operational environment
- Proven experience managing large teams, multiple workflows, and service-delivery targets
- Experience overseeing operational budgets, staffing plans, and performance reporting
- Demonstrated success improving productivity, accuracy, and customer service
- Experience managing major clients, suppliers, contractors, or delivery partners
- Previous responsibility for compliance, risk management, and business continuity

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related subject preferred
- Professional qualifications in logistics, operations, management, or supply chain are advantageous
- Substantial relevant industry and management experience may be considered in place of formal qualification
Pay: £84,000.00-£98,000.00 per year
